  • What is the g-value?
Also total energy transmittance. Percentage of incident radiation that is allowed to pass through the glass as a whole. Serves to use free solar energy gains. In contrast, solar control glasses have a low g-value to avoid excessive heating in summer.

The g-value is also known as energy transmittance. It indicates how much energy can penetrate through the window from the outside to the inside. The value is given in percent. In general, the higher the g-value, the more solar radiation can be released into the room through the glazing as radiant heat. A high g-value can therefore achieve an equally high heat gain in the room. In the winter months this is more pleasant, but in summer the high g_value contributes to a significant heating of the rooms. This value is particularly important for passive houses that rely on solar gains (up to 60% of the heating energy).
  • What is the function of the general contractor (GU)?
As the sole contractual partner of the building owner, the GC assumes overall responsibility for the execution of buildings with the involvement of subcontractors. He can guarantee performance, deadline and price. Contract types: Lump sum, global, contract on account, contract with cost ceiling.
  • What is the function of the general planner?
The general planner takes over all services for the planning and development of a construction project and usually also the construction management.
  • What is a glazing bead for?
The glazing bead as a component of the frame ensures that the glass pane remains in the window frame. If the glass is damaged, the glazing bead can be removed to replace the glass. Glazing beads can be found in both profiled and smooth shapes.
  • Where does the total contractor procedure / the general contractor procedure apply?
    TU/GU procedure
The TU/GU model is used where the public or private client entrusts planning and execution to a contractual partner who is responsible for the entire project, including the associated project and contract management in all work phases.

Welcome to the ENERsign® U-Value window configurator:

The U-value window is also called heat transfer coefficient and according to the standard DIN EN 10077 it indicates the amount of thermal energy lost through a window to the outside.

The U-value window is calculated using the formula W/(m²K), i.e. watts per square metre and Kelvin. This value refers to the entire window and defines the amount of energy per unit of time that flows through an area of one square meter when the air temperature on both sides differs by one Kelvin. The lower this value is, the less energy or heat the window emits.
